Local Attractions to Discover

Nestled in the seaside charm of Paekākāriki, there are wonderful attractions waiting to be explored. Begin your journey with our immersive history walk, featuring a visit to the local station museum where the railway's impact on the area's growth comes to life. Art lovers will delight in the vibrant arts walk, offering an array of local artistry from murals to sculptures. Each piece tells a unique story through its medium. With every step, Xplore Paekakariki invites you to connect with the community's spirit, discovering the rich tapestry of culture that makes this village truly special.

Paekākāriki is the perfect place for a day at the beach; an escape from the city; home of Steam Incorporated (Saturday is a good day to talk to one of the crew to have a close up look around the steam locomotives and carriages); a community of artists and writers; the starting point for the Te Araroa “Station To Station” escarpment walking track; great walking and bike tracks in Queen Elizabeth Park.

Enjoy the village - arts and craft shops & gallery (Holtom's Building); cafes, bar/restaurant; picnic/swim at the beach; breathe the fresh sea air; look around the Station Museum displays; wander around the Paekākāriki Arts Walk and view the poetry panels and murals.
