The Lynch family were early European settlers and significant farmers in Paekākāriki, New Zealand, known for establishing the historic Emerald Glen farm, later a venue, with Captain Henry Lynch receiving land for his military service; his sons, particularly Ossian, were prominent farmers and public figures, with several family members serving in WWI, including Henry (Ossian's son) and Oscar, who died at Gallipoli, cementing the family's deep local roots
